Release Day: Tournament of Losers

TournamentOfLosers

Yay! The Tournament has arrived!

So this is my latest (and greatest) fairytale to date, and I am super happy with it. This comes as no surprise because some of my best works are the stories I’ve written for specific people. Writing for me is always what I do first and foremost, but writing for friends is my favorite thing.

So as stated often and loudly, Tournament of Losers is inspired by quest fairytales. Defeat the dragon, obtain these three items. My favorite of this sort is Ivan and the Wolf (which I’ve mucked with a couple of times, most notably Burning Bright).

But the other component of this story that really mattered was what Rath is a good person. He’s not without his flaws, but he does have a real and true heart of gold. I very much wanted a nod to the princesses of fairytales like Cinderella (still my favorite, I’ve rewritten it… at least four times? Not including Spell Weaver, which comes out in June). He was a lot of fun to write, even if he also meant managing one of the trickier tropes (that I cannot discuss without spoiling).

I’ve gotten a LOT of positive reviews for this story, and I’m deeply grateful. I fretted and fretted that people would not like a long fairytale, or that it would be TOO light-hearted, even for me. It means even more that so many have enjoyed various components I worked hard to add to this story, things I’ve always tried to add to my stories and things I’m determined to include going forward.

So thank you, my lovely readers, as always. I hope you enjoy my Tournament 🙂

  1. I absolutely loved Tournament of losers!! I got the book in the middle of the night and I stayed up the whole night and morning reading it. I even skipped school since I was unable to put the book down (bad student). I was enthralled! Thank you so much!! Will there be some short stories about Rath and Tress? I’d love to read more about them!!
