Engineers, Angels, Tentacles, and Mischief

My new serial starts in two weeks! I am very excited, even if it’s been a cause of serious stress the past few weeks and has put me massively behind schedule on writing projects.

Lord Vellem is a man desperate for escape. His father hides from his problems in alcohol, his mother hides from her misery in drugs, and his brother fled to the relative safety of the royal palace. Vellem eventually found solace in the Royal Army Corp of Engineers, but still could not entirely escape. Then his brother provides him with an unexpected chance, and now Vellem’s marriage to the young prince of a neighboring kingdom is only months away.

The marriage promises not just a fresh start in a new land, but a challenge to his famed skills in building roads and bridges. But before he can settle into his new life, tragedy strikes, and Vellem isn’t certain he’s up to rebuilding the ruin left in its wake.

I think all writers keep a running list of ideas at the back of their head, just waiting for the day a story appears and they can go ‘oh, I know what I can use for this!’ One of the things on my list was the Army Corps of Engineers. My mom used to work for them at a damn in Tennessee and she loved that job. They liked her so much that when we went to visit her one day, they gave us a special tour and took us places I’m pretty sure kids weren’t supposed to go :3

It’s something I’ve always wanted to play with and this story is was a chance. It’s definitely a verse I’ll come back to someday.

Speaking of serials, I hope everyone is enjoying Dance Only for Me. We’re into part two tonight and the plot begins to shape up. And next update you may briefly see a familiar demon and consort :3

Something Happened on the Way to Heaven also comes out in two weeks. This is LT3’s angel anthology, and it’s a good set of stories. For Dance with the Devil fans, my contribution was Jed & Charlie’s story, if you were ever curious about the powerful sorcerer with the angel companion (and did not read the original I posted forever and a day ago).

When not working on more serious stories, I am having a lot of fun chipping away at a story promised to Storm Moon Press for their Tall, Dark and Wiggly anthology. There’s a snippet of this story in the same post as Engineered Throne above :3

Aaaand when all of that and normal LT3 stuff is not demanding my attention, we are working on a special new project ^___^ I showed it off a few days ago on tumblr and twitter, but here is one third of the New Secret Project:

I’m not saying a single word, you’ll just have to wait :3
