Things and Stuff and Other Things

Sasha and I are going to be MIA from Dec 9th to Dec 16th. We’ll be driving up to and all around New York. So if you absolutely need us to do something that can’t wait until after we get back, speak before Dec 1st or you’re likely SOL.

Much love to everyone who has been enjoying High King ^__^

Coming up in the next few months: The Werewolf of Grey Lake Inn through LT3 in December. This is a solo release of a story I had in anthology, and part of mine and Sasha’s Paranormal Days verse.

Trick of the Light is the start of my super villain series, which I’m self-pubbing, and it comes out in January. Some will remember this verse, back when it was just a bunch of silly little shorts I wrote on LJ. For those who just went OMG Dixie! he is the second story.

Tournament of Losers is my 67k fairy tale coming out in February, another LT3 release.

And for the moment there are no releases lined up for March or April, but come May my necromancer/dragon story, The Only Option, will be coming out through All Romance Ebooks 🙂

For those eagerly awaiting Lesto’s story, that is June’s release.

And the rest of 2016 can just wait a bit ^^; Though most of it is already booked, including Shield of the Dragon and The Painted Crown.

The Lady and the Thief Is a lesbian tale part of Deceived verse (complete with Suitable cameos).

Dragon Magic, which I started forever ago and am finally getting around to finishing. I am never writing telepathy again x_X

Close Enough to Touch, the third Anti-Heroes book (#2 is already done)

And last, but not least, a book I always said I wouldn’t write for various reasons (too intimidated being one of them). Below the cut. I hope everyone has had a good weekend, and has a lovely week.

Dance in the Dark short and a pen name

One! Joyfully Jay had a free spot recently and was kind enough to let me have it. In honor of my approaching birthday, I wrote a little short about Johnnie from Dance in the Dark ^__^ If you want to read it, here is where you’ll find it.

Two! A few years ago I made up a pen name for a handful of reasons – mostly I considered separating out my contemporary, and I have always been self-conscious and painfully aware of criticism that I write too fast (which must mean I write poorly, which isn’t true). I suck at alt identities, though, and as ever I’m too busy for my own good so poor Erica Kealey has fallen by the wayside. But Bad Moon Rising hasn’t recently come down and I decided to self-pub her short story from that. I may yet try do other stuff under her name, it’s kind of fun in a stupid way. We’ll see.

Hope everyone is having a good week!

Guest Post: Reading Alley Grand Opening Celebration!

Hello, peeps!

A few months ago I was invited to beta a new review site on the author/publisher side, and I can honestly say it’s been a pleasure. The site is reminiscent of netgalley, but much more geared toward authors (and so more affordable). The staff has been friendly and flexible (they even changed gay/lesbian to LGBTQ when I asked), and the site offers a lot of control in terms of approving reviewers, deciding whether or not to make a review public, etc. I probably sound a bit rote, thanks to the past few days of frantically packing and moving followed by roadtrip followed by more packing and moving x_X But I have enjoyed working with this site and plan to keep doing so. Read on and give it a try ^__^

Reading Alley is officially launching and we are marking it in a big way with our Grand Opening event! Take part in a variety of site activities, such as our weekly contests, review challenge and referral program. The more active you are, the higher your chances of winning in our Grand Draw. Vacation and Other Things

I’ve already posted loudly about this at my blog, but going overboard never hurts for announcements like this. I am going on vacation June 10-17, but in reality I’ll be MIA from about the 9th to the 20th. There are also other personal matters keeping Sasha and I pretty busy and away from the internet indefinitely, but more on that when it wraps up.

I cannot stress enough that June 9-20 I am basically going dark and am going to be unreachable. This is a break I (and Sasha and Sam) sorely need and the first vacation vacation I’ve taken in years (as opposed to the working ones we’ve taken once or twice, usually combined with conventions). So if you need me, contact me by June 5th. After that, it’s iffy, and after the 9th you’re SOL until I’m back in action on the 20th.

Which brings me to my next shenanigan: I am way too busy to do ever get to do things like blog tours, cover reveals, that sort of thing. I feel like I’ve fallen off the map and get pretty lonely. I don’t think I’ll ever stop missing my Livejournal days when I got to talk to people more. So I at least can keep people better posted about stuff, I am going to try a newsletter.

It’s a once a month thing, and it’ll have the usual suspects (coming soon, recent releases, sales, upcoming events and plans) but I also hope to include WIP snippets, books I’ve read and enjoyed, other things like that. If it doesn’t pan out, no big. But if you want to sign up, the page is here (and I don’t sign people up, that shit isn’t cool. No one will be adding your name to the subscriber list except you, and it sends a ‘make sure you want this’ email anyway just to be sure).

And because I asked twitter peeps which book they wanted a snippet of to go with my vacation/last call blog post, and it was a tie between The Painted Crown and The High King’s Golden Tongue, I put Painted Crown on the blog post, and you get High King here ^__^ As I mentioned… somewhere… two of the biggest changes to this story are Lesto and Rene, who are muchly fleshed out and have bigger roles. This snippet is where you meet Rene (and first get to see Allen do what he does best) :3

Love you all! <3

New Release – Rabbit Season

So like, a year or more ago, I did a donation/auction type thingie, and one of the winners asked if I was willing to do incest. I think we all know the answer to that. Incest is obviously one of the major taboos in writing, right up there with rape in terms of things that should be dealt with seriously and not treated like a game or some shiny neat thing.

Does that mean I shouldn’t write about it? That people shouldn’t read it? Of course not. That’s what books are for, exploring and indulging things that we absolutely would never tolerate IRL.

She gave me a few promises, and I went with the twins one. She wanted shifters, IIRC, so I went with twin rabbits and a duck :3 The rough concepts for looks and personalities came from the requester, but after that it was all on me. I don’t remember when/why I decided it would go well in the same verse as Backwoods, but I do think it’s found a good home there.

Rabbit Season

The fact that rabbits in this verse have very different views on family (and incest) than most of society definitely adds to the tensions and turmoil that are the running theme through this series.

For the curious, I currently have two others in mind, though I’m still deliberating the order they should go in. One is a follow-up to Backwoods Asylum, and will deal with that couple and their family more. The other is going to be about an alligator and a raccoon.

For now, I hope you enjoy Rabbit Season (and if the threesome twincest thing is not your scene, no worries, whatever I do next in this verse, you’ll be able to follow along fine without this one).

LT3 | Amazon | ARe  | BN

And if you’ve never read Backwoods, you get it in ebook or audio.

Hope everyone is having a good week, and staying warm!

My brain is a sieve

Cause I never remember to do things like promo at all, I swear.  I always want to do guest posts places but 1) I am shockingly shy about asking. I always feel like I’m being presumptuous or a bother. It’s dumb, I know, but the feeling persists. But mostly 2) I get so wrapped up in work and all, I just forget to ask in time to be able to do it. I am going to try for With Pridesince I am really proud of my Princes of the Blood and it seems to be doing well.

There is a blog post coming on my blog this week for Of Last Resort. Right now it’s about six paragraphs of rambling. Which this will turn into if I don’t stop ;3

Come to Me is, obviously, a short little follow up to Black Magic. Much love to those who have already read it. As I’ve said before, it really was meant to be just a short smutty bit. But some characters are more inclined toward that than others. Sorin and Koray mostly like just like being dumb (now, my dragons from Dance verse. That group has always been inclined toward smut. Like, I don’t even have to work hard to make them strip down).

The official link for Come to Me, and of course it’s at all the usual suspects.

Suitable Replacement

Since I already have a post specifically for OLR, I will not add that here, but I will add that for serial peeps, A Suitable Replacement starts this coming week. It’s been a long time since I’ve done anything in Deceived verse. This particular story ties to none of them. It was an aggravating story to write, at points, because I meant for it to be a short, cute thing where they sort of fumble stupidly around town for a little while. But it kept going, and in unplanned directions. But I don’t think my editor hated (it was hard to tell, she kept yelling :3 :3 :3) so I hope peeps enjoy ^___^

I am joining in this to give away a copy of … um … The Engineered Throne or Of Last Resort. I don’t remember which. Fail, self /o\

Anyway, there seems to be a lot of other shiny authors involved. I always feel weird doing stuff like this. Again, because I feel like i’m intruding (I think there’s a name for this, Sasha was telling me about it one day). Plus, fantasy is such a small section of Romance, so I feel weird next to all the contemporary books and such. I’m aware 99.9% of this is in my head, but that never really helps.

In writing news, I am as usual trying to work myself to death. I started out this year with a manageable to do list and now it’s exploded and I kind of just lay on the floor and whimper. But long time readers of our Fairytales Slashed serial will be seeing a new fairytale from me in a few months, working title The Raven and the Sorcerer. Going to do something I don’t think I’ve done before. Also in fairytale news, The Broken Forest has been officially handed over to Samantha for editing. Once I have a release date for that (and Pack, Lukos Heat, and Looking for More) I will let you know them. I am fond of Broken Forest, it’s cute and fun and the kind of fluffy stuff I have not gotten to write in a while. Speaking of Lukos Heat, that has been revised and about six thousand words added. I think those dragons may be some of my best work.

And for those that liked Backwoods Asylum, I am writing another story in that verse. It’s actually a charity story, meant to be about 10k, but the prompt is for something that will take more than that to do well (twincest and threesome). It’s about twin rabbit shifters and a duck shifter, and because I’m 5 the working title is Rabbit Season.

I am also working on more Wriggle & Sparkle and of course slowly picking away at The High King’s Golden Tongue, which when done will be somewhere in the 80-100k range. Clan Mordred is still in there as well, and a second charity story I really need to get to, and that person requested I do one of a few ideas she had for Engineered Throne.

Busy busy busy.

I also have some recs, hopefully will manage to finally get those up this coming Friday.

Before I forget again, wanted to extend all of the warm and fuzzy thank yous to those who have been enjoying the audiobooks. I have gotten many emails and comments, I’m so very happy to hear that people are enjoying them. I forward compliments on the voice acting to Red Planet, since I’m sure they like hearing them too, and seriously, those guys kill it ^__^ If you have seen them, in audition to mine, there are three other audibooks out now for Saving Liam, Finding the Wolf, and Dragon Slayer. Check them out!

Now it’s time for more coffee and back to transcribing. I hope everyone has a lovely weekend!

Ahn! Con and Writing Stuffs

This Wednesday, January 8th, LT3 is heading out for Ahn!Con in Kansas City. We are driving. It’s going to be a long fucking driving, but sadly it’s still easier and cheaper than flying. We’re going to be selling print books and their coordinating ebooks. If you’re going to be there, come say hi! ^_^

On the writing front, I am, as every, busy busy busy. I recently finished rewriting Pack. If you do not remember that title, it’s the story about Tori, Kipling, and Tori’s two dragons. It needs a bunch of editing, of course, and then I must enlist a beta, before it even reaches LT3. But the original story for these guys was 5500 words. The new version stands at 22k, and will probably be at least 25k by the time I’m done done with it.

Interestingly, I only wound up writing it out of nowhere because I am trying to work on Clan Mordred. There is something of a very vague spoiler for Clan Mordred in Pack, but we’ll see if anyone figures it out :3

If you’d like a rough snippet of it, you can find it here on my tumblr.

I am also nearly done with a Black Magic short, written for a friend just because she asked. I will probably list on LT3 as a $.99 short or something. It largely consists of Koray and Sorin being their usual dumbass selves, followed by smut. It was meant to be just the smut, but it’s really hard not to make them suffer first (and embarrass Koray, I can’t help myself, sorry not sorry).

Last but not least, because apparently I have become a multi-tasking author, I have switch out Goblin Market (which won’t cooperate with me) for The High King’s Golden Tongue. The first chapter is nearly done, and somewhere around the 3rd or 4th chapter I’ll begin blending in the stuff from the original. Chapters switch POV between Allen and Sarrica. There will be more of Rene, too, for those who liked him :3

And for kicks, I will end with a snippet of that. Pardon any errors, it is still quite rough. I hope everyone’s new year is off to a lovely start. If it’s not, I hope it improves quickly. Love you, peeps!

Friday Book Recs and more

First up, my other Valentine! Many have already read it, and someone was sweet enough to tell me she loved it ^__^ For those not aware, however, I did a little Valentine story for The Bastard Prince

If Reyes saw one. More. Flower. He was going to start killing people. Huffing out an irritated breath, he gingerly made his way through the veritable forest of flowers that filled his office, their combined scents strong enough to start a headache buzzing.

There was nothing quite as aggravating as the Days of Devotion, and if Reyes knew a way to go back in time to murder the King and Queen who had started the ridiculous three-day-long tradition of giving flowers and other gifts to loved ones, he would do so gladly.

Now on the recs 😀
